Strange Things afoot at the Night Owl this Halloween

Everyone has fallen in love with 80s homage ‘Stranger Things‘ the eerie Netflix show set in 1983 Indiana follows the disappearance of a young boy and stars Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine.

In honour The Night Owl are holding two Stranger Things themed parties.

The Night Owl were the first in the UK to choose the Stranger Things theme but since then parties have cropped up all over the country as the population fell more in love with the series.

You are encouraged to dress as a character or ‘thing’ from Stranger Things or come dressed as something scary from the early 80s think Stephen King, Steven Spielberg etc… With prizes offered for best overall costume or ‘Best Barb’, Barb being a popular (if unfortunate) character from the show.

The music will be influenced by the show itself so think 80s synths, Joy Division, The Clash etc. plus The Night Owl’s usual mix of an incredible mix of cool retro tunes such as soul, 60s r n b, mod, punk, northern soul, ska, rock and roll funky stuff, etc. Of course, you can expect some Stranger Things décor at the venue and perhaps a few surprises.

The first of the two parties on Saturday 29th October sold out in record time and due to popular demand The Night Owl are hosting a ‘part 2’ on Tuesday 1st November as part of their regular student night ‘Ruby Tuesdays’.

“I fell in love with the show straight away and watched it three times in as many weeks. I’ve even been asked on radio shows to talk about the show because of how vocal I’ve been about it. The whole feel of it is so authentic, the cast are incredible actors, it’s been lovingly made and it shows. I hope that we do it proud.” Mazzy Snape, Promoter, The Night Owl.
